Norwegian Conversation
Our Norwegian Conversation program has transitioned from in-person sessions to Zoom. This format is reviewed each year and depends on participant interest.
The focus is on building practical language skills—learning everyday words and phrases, along with pronunciation. Sessions include engaging topics, minimal homework, and a relaxed approach. While grammar is not the primary focus, it is introduced occasionally. Our instructor creates a casual and enjoyable learning environment for all levels.
Additional Language Resources
On the Sons of Norway website, you’ll find helpful language tools, including Norwegian in 5 Minutes a Month. Visitors have expressed interest in the Norwegian alphabet and genealogical terms, and dedicated resources are now available in Language Lesson 9.

Norwegian for Reading Comprehension
Learning Norwegian can be especially challenging for adults, particularly when trying to understand older documents or texts written in less common language forms. Even classroom instruction in modern Norwegian may not fully prepare learners for historical materials.
